Attack on U.S. Embassy foiled

DAMASCUS, Syria (CNN) — Syrian security forces on Tuesday killed four gunmen after they tried to storm the U.S. Embassy in Damascus, the Syrian Information Ministry said.

Tears and tributes remember 9/11 victims

(CNN) — Five years after the worst terrorist attack on American soil, President Bush on Monday saluted the nearly 3,000 people who were killed on September 11, 2001.

On a drizzly, chilly day near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, Bush exchanged hugs and greetings with people who lost family members onboard United Airlines Flight 93.

University band director charged with student rape

DOVER, Delaware (AP) — The director of the Delaware State University band has been charged with raping a student, state police said Monday.

Miguel A. Bonds, 31, was arrested Sunday night and charged with second-degree rape, two counts of third-degree unlawful sexual contact, and providing alcohol to an underage person.

Cabo San Lucas braces for Hurricane John

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico (CNN) — Hurricane John strengthened early Friday to Category 3 status as it neared the Baja California peninsula.

Ahead of the powerful storm — which was packing maximum sustained winds of 115 mph — government officials ordered the evacuation of 15,000 people from low-lying areas.

Barkeep gets $10,000 tip on $26 tab
